Android Developer

DBOS is looking for a highly skilled Android Developer to work across our entire platform, from public-facing web apps to internal tools, APIs, third-party systems & services. We are seeking developers who are excited by the prospect of diving in and shaping the future of the platform.


  • Design and build advanced applications for the Android platform
  • Translate designs and wireframes into high-quality code
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features
  • Work with outside data sources and APIs
  • Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of the application
  • Work on bug fixing and improving application performance
  • Help maintain code quality, organization, and automatization
  • Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency


  • 3+ years commercial Android development experience
  • 3+ years of full stack web development experience
  • Experience with manipulation of image and video on Android platform. Familiar with video codecs will be a bonus
  • Commercial Experience with J2EE, JavaScript and similar experience
  • Commercial Experience with traditional RDBMS and exposure with NoSQ.L DBs
  • Proven Competence with Web App including WebSocket and REST APIs
  • Proven Experience with AWS Architecture, such as S3, Aurora, Elastic Beanstalk, Lambda, DynamoDB as well as peripheral supporting services
  • Familiar or happy to learn AWS authentication and authorization suite of technologies, such as IAM, Cognito and Federated ID
  • If proficient in C++ will help a lot when writing own library but not mandatory
  • The job is NOT a vanilla Android development job. Applicants need to learn the new hardware and will have to keep learning as we progress onto newer hardware platform in the future
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail and an ability to think several steps beyond the initial requirements
  • Excited by the chance to build something new as part of a small team at an early-stage startup
  • Understands when and where to optimize and refactor code in the pursuit of building scalable and extendable applications
  • Enjoys coaching and help teammates through code reviews and participating in a collaborative workplace
  • Passion for automation, contributing to design discussions and operating in a fast-paced environment
